Eid

In Islam there are two feasts, which are reflections on the joy Muslims have after the fulfillment of their obligations toward Allah(God.) The first is feast of Braking the Fast, which followed Ramadan, the holiest month in the Islamic calendar. Muslims celebrate the fact that they have been able to fast, perform extra prayers and give generously to the poor and the needy.

The second feast is the feast of sacrifice, and is connected with the Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham,) and his son Prophet Ismail (Ishmael.) During this anniversary, Muslims, who are able to make the journey, perform pilgrimage to Mecca, the first place built on earth to worship Allah (God.) Muslims also give food to the poor and the needy on this holy occasion, so that all celebrate this important occasion.”
